This series of seminars are designed for parents, grandparents, parents to be, and anyone concerned about young people and drug use. Over three evening sessions (or equivalent) the Drug ARM WA team can provide you with…

Background information on drugs and their use and abuse in the Australian context . Explore some of the reasons why people use drugs.
Strategies to deal with some of the tough questions families face when they discover their child is using (or mixing in a crowd of users).
Ways to build a trusting relationship with your teenager while exploring ways to discuss issues concerning drugs and their use with the children.
What to do when all else fails – what do I do and what can I say to ensure my child is safe?

A standard seminar costs $500 (with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 participants).

School Student Drug Education Seminars

We currently offer a 40 minute class presentation that looks at the way in which drug use impacts on a young person’s life, why people use drugs even if they know of the negative affects, and what things young people c an do to help themselves before making decisions about drug use.

A standard school presentation has a fee of $110 for schools south of the river and $120 for schools north of the river (the extra charge is travel time and costs as we are based in Armadale).

School Leavers Seminar for Year 12 students

Schools have the opportunity to partnership with Drug ARM WA and have us deliver our School Leavers presentation to thier year 12 students. We believe it is critical that students go to School Leavers celebrations prepared. Our presentation covers all information from the Drug and Alcohol office “School Leavers Presentation” (2005) plus new relevant information for 2007 and information we have found useful for students from our unique drug and alcohol perspective and on the ground experience.

The presentation runs in a 40min – 1hr time slot and covers…

• Driving
• Police
• Drugs & Alcohol
• Support Agencies
• Tips for staying safe
• What to do in an emergency
