Moorditj House Youth Options Program
(Residential Youth Program – Armadale / Kelmscott area)

Moorditj House is a suburban home that provides supported accommodation for a small number of young people between the ages of 12 – 17 years. The young people in Moorditj House come to us either as part of a ‘supervised bail’ program or on referral for other reasons where their parent (or primary care giver) is unable to offer them appropriate care and support.

Young people are referred to the program primarily by the Department of Corrective Services, or occasionally through the Department of Child Protection.

The young people living at Moorditj participate in our day program 5 days per week and are provided counselling support. As part of the day program, these young people have the opportunity to further their skills in areas such as woodwork, mechanics / metal work, computing, cooking, artistic expression, music, literacy & numeracy and general life skills.

The aim is to motivate and increase self esteem for the young people in the program, and help provide them with skills which can transfer back into everyday life. Assistance is also provided for these young people to re-engage with their family members and / or primary carer as appropriate.

The young people are supported by our professional staff and carers who provide a listening ear, and who assist the young person develop appropriate coping and living skills.

Moorditj House provides a supportive, drug and alcohol free atmosphere for the young people to experience, as far as possible, a normal home life.
