Drug ARM WA Inc.
As Patron of Drug ARM WA Inc I have the privilege of visiting the various services Drug ARM WA is providing here in Western Australia.. It is clear to me how important the organisation is in the communities around the South East Metropolitan area, the City of Peth and regional areas.
The work that Drug ARM WA does in the community is commendable. We are indeed fortunate to have groups of people like you who actively seek out those who are marginalised, traumatised or are finding it hard to cope in society.
The Youth Options Program is workshop based and offers young clients the opportunity to take part in a variety of projects such as car maintenance, wood working and other vital skills that contribute to their self esteem and aspirations for a better life.
Drug ARM WA also offers accommodation for these young people at Moorditj House. Also there is a Time Out Centre which provides a safe place for young people to sober-up. This service is crucial to the community. I also commend those people who run the Op Shops where the purchase of goods makes a contribution to the organisation and the lives of those who are finding day to day living difficult.
A Residential Rehabilitation Centre operates in Geraldton. This is a challenging program in every respect – one that adopts a broad and supportive approach to addiction and substance abuse. Many of the clients there are filled with courage as they step closer to rejoining the community with renewed confidence. The transitional home provides a further 13 weeks of accommodation that enables the people to assimilate back into the community.
I am proud to be the Patron and I look forward to my association with Drug ARM WA Inc.
